Chuck has 45 years of experience in the Tropical Fish hobby and 35 of those years in the retail pet industry.

He is a generalist in his experience but has focused on cultivating aquarium plants using low technology to benefit his fish over the last 15 years.

Currently Chuck has 17 aquariums and multiple outside summer tubs. He has been a member of Madison Area Aquatic Hobbyists, Madison Aquatic Gardeners Club in the past. He is currently a member of The Milwaukee Aquarium Society.

The presentation will discuss why plants fell out of favor and why they are now gaining popularity. The discussion will cover his personal experiences and growth in the art of cultivating plants. It will also cover the setup of a Low-tech symbiotic plant/fish aquarium. Further, including in the talk, lighting, substrate, and water quality will be covered.

There is updated material on the effect of water changes, LED lighting, and heavy metals in water. Also, if there is a need for a more advanced level of technology.

This presentation is focused on the beginners to veterans that might want to try something different.
