MILWAUKEE AQUARIUM SOCIETY

The Milwaukee Aquarium Society is Milwaukee’s oldest fish hobbyist organization, helping to promote the hobby in Milwaukee since 1955. Building on our rich heritage, we have grown to 68 members, representing a combination of individuals and family memberships.

The interests and experience levels of our members vary from people who are just
starting out in the hobby to experts who have received national recognition for their accomplishments. We are proud of the many members who boast 30 years or more of aquatic hobby experience.

Whether you’re looking for a mentor to learn from or just a great group of people to hang out with, you can find a place with MAS. Our members also receive discounts at many of our local fish stores, as well as the chance to participate in our annual MAS picnic and the MAS Christmas party.

MEETINGS

The best way to learn about MAS is to attend one of our meetings, so admission is free and guests are welcome. We meet on the third Friday of each month, except for December and July (no general meeting in those months).

Our meetings are held at the New Berlin Ale House. Our monthly general meetings are in the room at the west end of the building. We will make every effort to provide signage, but feel free to ask someone.

Doors open at 6:30 with meetings starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. We start with a brief business meeting, including club announcements before introducing our monthly speaker. Following the speaker, we have a short break, then host a mini-auction, featuring fish, inverts, plants or hard goods donated by members, as well as entries in our HAP and BAP programs. Funds from these auctions go to support our speaker and meeting room expenses, so members and guests alike are encouraged to donate items, as well as bid frequently and often.

After the meeting, we shuffle the room around and catch up over some of the great eats the New Berlin Ale House has to offer. There’s really nothing like sitting at a table with 20+ fish geeks, laughing and talking about the hobby after a long week.
